Orchestra Iowa announces that effective July 1, 2024, Eric Marshall will join the organization as its new Chief Executive Officer. Linda Barnes will remain with the Orchestra through July 31st in her interim position to help with the transition. Effective August 1, Ms. Barnes will rejoin the Orchestra Iowa board in her former role as Vice Chair.

Mr. Marshall brings over 15 years of orchestra leadership experience to Orchestra Iowa. His most recent role was Executive Director of the Baton Rouge Symphony in Louisiana.

After an extensive national search, I’m confident we have found the best candidate to lead Orchestra Iowa forward,” says Lisa Rhatigan, Orchestra Iowa’s board Chair. “Eric not only checks all the boxes in terms of skills and experience, but he also has a huge amount of enthusiasm for our beloved orchestra and the corridor communities we serve.

Eric’s July 1st start with Orchestra Iowa will coincide with the beginning of the organization’s fiscal year and lead-up to the 2024-25 season.

I’m looking forward to working with a partner like Eric going into next season,” says Tim Hankewich, Music Director for Orchestra Iowa. “He shared some great ideas during our interview process, and the time we spent together gave me great confidence in him. Orchestra Iowa’s future is bright!
